TRANSIT MUSEUM DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN

Set in the beautiful old New York Subway station, this is truly a journey back in time. Wheelchair accessible, with a shop membership available, the Museum hosts a brilliant list of events, sketch workshops, tours and much much more. With a fleet of Vintage Buses, and seven Vintage Subway Cars, this is also a treat for any photography/Transport History fan. The Vintage Subway cars are listed below:

  • BMT Q CAR NUMBER 1612C  (1908, REBUILT 1938)

  • BRT BROOKLYN UNION ELEVATED CAR NUMBER 1407 (1907)

  • IRT R-15 CAR NUMBER 6239 (1950)

  • IRT R-12 CAR NUMBER 5760 (1948)

  • R-11 PROTOTYPE / R-34 CAR NUMBER 8013 (1949)

  • IRT R-17 CAR NUMBER 6609 (1955)

  • IND R-1 ‘CITY-CAR’ NUMBER 100 (1930)

Seems like an awesome journey down through the New York Transit systems history. Keep an eye out for their upcoming events, as Tickets seem to sell out fast!
